We provide early intervention and support to families with a child or young person up to the age of 18 years (or 25 years if vulnerable), who are experiencing emerging mild to moderate emotional or behavioural difficulties.
We work with parents, children, young people and families as a whole, addressing issues that affect the wellbeing of the family as well as the child or young person. This is because we believe that if one person in the family has a problem then it can be difficult for all the family. We aim to help families find positive ways through those problems to improve coping and build resilience and wellbeing for all. We work with families of all backgrounds with a wide range of problems including bereavement, loss and emerging family communication and relationship difficulties.
What to expect
Where appropriate we offer a family wellbeing meeting to look at family strengths and resilience, based on the belief that the family is its own best resource.
We support families to explore and implement a family wellbeing plan focused on improving family functioning. We assist progress through individual, family and group work supported by our team of child and adult counsellors, play therapist, family therapists and family wellbeing practitioners.
This support is available to families and individuals affected by disabilities, and families and individuals seeking asylum or refuge, living in the City of Cardiff.
